About
What is The Artery ?
The Artery is a series of workshops designed to connect participants to their own innate creative ability, utilising craft, art therapy techniques, movement, play, group interaction, writing and profound soul searching to bring about personal transformation.
We are all born creative, yet many of us tend to forget this as we enter adulthood as creativity is not celebrated and many have the misinformation that if they cannot draw or paint, they are not creative. You don’t need to be an artist to enjoy the fulfillment and joy connected with living a truly creative life.

The activities and processes are designed so that anyone with any skill level can participate and enjoy the process. The emphasis is on curiosity and the process and not on doing things well. It's in allowing ourselves to be beginners that we liberate our potential for new experiences. It is a mix of pure play and fun, and in depth connection to your life impetus and how you are creating your own story.
"Even if you don't call yourself an artist, you have the potential to be a dynamic creator who is always hatching new plans, coming up with fresh ideas, and shifting your approach to everything you do as you adjust to life's ceaseless invitation to change.
It's to this part of you- the restless, inventive spirit- That I address the following: Unleash your self! Don't be satisfied with the world the way it is; don't sit back passively and blankly complain about the deadweight of mediocre status quo. Instead, call on your curiosity and charisma and expressiveness and lust for life as you tinker with and rebuild everything you see so that it's in greater harmony with the laws of love and more hospitable to your soul's code. Art as Therapy
Art is a wonderful tool for exploring our inner worlds, expressing things that words cannot and connecting to the sheer joy that being creative brings.
We were made to make things!

The workshops use various art therapy techniques from mask making, body mapping, headdresses, vision boarding and many more to achieve the transformative results you are after. Emphasis is on the pleasure of the process and not on creating an amazing work of art. No skills are required to both execute and ENJOY the processes.
Writing
Journalling is an incredibly powerful tool that allows us to really connect with what we are thinking and feeling. It's too easy to operate on auto pilot and not hold ourselves accountable for the life choices we are making. Writing allows us to take our dreams and desires from mere thinking into a more tangible space, creating accountability, clarity and motivation to action them.
The combination of writing, dancing and sharing with others is a wonderful catalyst for change
Why dance?
Movement is an integral part of the processes where we can both play, connect with the other and gain profound personal insights. Our bodies are store houses of wisdom, emotion and memory. Dance is the most powerful transformational tool that I have encountered to shift what is not serving us, connect us to our joy and open the floodgates of creativity.
Dance allows us to get out of our over taxed head spaces and into our bodies. The work we do allows us to integrate body and mind.

There are no moves to learn (or get wrong!) so even if you have two left feet, this will work for you too. We have had confirmed non-dancers really enjoy the processes and benefit deeply from them.

Verity uses a mix of Biodanza, 5 rhythms and other conscious dance modalities to achieve her results.
Play!
We learn more and are more motivated when we are having fun. Often our creativity is stifled because we have lost our sense of play. Our inner child needs nurturing. Children never have to be forced to play- it comes naturally and joyfully and it is through being in a play space that all sorts of fresh ideas are sparked.

“You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
― Maya Angelou
Community- the power of the group
Accountability, support, encouragement and inspiration

Everything is more powerful when done in a group. We provide a safe container where participants are able to journey through their processes feeling held and nurtured
